The First Heat Wave of Summer

Fiery, sweaty, exhausting. In other words, my weekend. The heatwave came and those brave enough to participate in physical outdoor activities found themselves dehydrated and trying to escape the scorching sun for just a minute. Of course, I thought what a great day to go out and skate!

Saturday, I participated in an all-girl skate sesh at a park in Bellflower, which is just inland of Long Beach. We had fun, even though we felt ourselves melting away in the 95-degree heat. I went home that day red as a tomato, lacking any energy to do anything besides sit on the couch and watch Forensic Files, all the while still sweating. That heat was relentless. I woke up sore Sunday but looking out my window and seeing the blue sky, I knew that I couldn’t let the day slip past me. We headed to the local skatepark in Oceanside. The ocean breeze was a nice contrast to the blazing sun but still, every move felt unbearable. We made the best of it though.

Cheers to everyone who got out there and did something active this weekend, despite the heatwave, and the exhaustion that followed. Anyway, I don’t know why I’m even complaining, I live in Southern California and am able to cool off at the beach!
Until next time,

Vanessa ~
